Common Name:
Family: Araneidae
Scientific Name: Neoscona crucifera
Size: 8.5 – 19.7 mm
Gender: female
There are three species of Neoscona in our area. N. crucifera is the most common of the three and, in my experience, the most commonly encountered of all the orb weavers in O.C. The abdomen of this species has a lot of variation in both color and pattern (see views 5 & 6 for a sample).
